NH-12A Chlpi – Kawardha

Project Background

Kabirdham, also known as Kawardha, is a district located in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. Situated on the southern bank of the Sakari River, Kabirdham is a peaceful and picturesque place. It derived its name from the presence of Kabir Sahib and the establishment of the seat of his disciple Dharmdas’ descendants.

The Chilpi-Kawardha road serves as a vital link between Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, connecting the two states. The project corridor extends to the border between the two states, passing through significant landmarks such as the Bhormdeo Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, built in 1089 AD, and Chilpi Ghati, also known as Chota Kashmir due to its sub-zero temperatures in winter. Upgrading this project will greatly enhance logistics and transportation between the two states.

RKC commenced work on this project in December 2016, adhering to the latest specifications outlined by IRC (Indian Road Congress) and MoRTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways). The design aimed for a speed limit of 80 km/hr.

A significant portion of the project passes through forested areas, requiring special considerations to minimize disturbances. The entire road consists of flexible pavement, covering a length of 50.878 kilometers with a two-lane carriageway and paved shoulder.

The urban sections were upgraded to four lanes. Additionally, the project involved the construction of 18 bridges, a toll plaza, and the installation of water and

Unprecedented Logistics

The construction of the Keshkal Ghat section presented intricate design challenges, requiring a carefully orchestrated logistical operation. Our logistics team efficiently managed this complex undertaking, encompassing road deliveries, traffic management, construction sequencing, distribution, and on-site labour.

The project’s scale and design intricacies were unparalleled. The mountainous terrain posed additional logistical complexities, which our team successfully navigated. We handled road deliveries, distribution, temporary utilities, communication systems, traffic management, and site labour with precision.

Despite the challenges, the project was completed within the committed schedule, thanks to the expertise and dedication of our site team and our pioneering approach to project delivery. With a peak workforce of 800 personnel, we achieved successful project execution, showcasing our skill and commitment to delivering exceptional results.
